Nine of the twelve Mitchell robotics teams competed on Saturday in the FLL regional qualifier. Thirty two teams from CISD were there. Our own Mitchell teams, The Evaporators, Hurricane Hydros, Scuba Turtles, Hydro Dragons, Hydro Voltage, Hydrogeeks, Hydro Electros, Geek Squad, and The Hydro Bots all did an awesome job of representing Mitchell.
The competition was tough, and the following Mitchell teams will advance to the state championship on January 27 in Houston: Hurricane Hydros #985, Hydrogeeks, #28941. Team #985, The
Hurricane Hydros also won 1st place for their project. They had an innovative solution to the Hydrodynamics challenge of finding a way to solve a problem they identified with the human water cycle. The solution they came up with led them to file for a patent for their design. How awesome is that?
Our remaining three Mitchell teams will compete next Saturday for a chance to advance and be considered for awards.
Our Mitchell robotics program would not be possible without the hours upon hours of volunteer time teacher sponsor Katie McLean and our dedicated parents give to help kids experience STEM. Every LC is represented in our Mitchell program and over 100 kids get to participate each year.
