The Mitchell FLL (First Lego League) Evaporators team #983 enjoyed a visit to REPSOL Energy’s Innovative Students awards on Thursday, April 12. They represented not only Mitchell Intermediate FLL robotics teams, but also all of the other FLL teams throughout the district that compete each season in FLL competition. They are recognized for their desire to take on challenges, provide innovative solutions and immerse themselves in STEM through FLL. We had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Stockton speak about all the exciting things our district does to support STEM and they also had the honor of meeting Dr. Anna L. Fisher, NASA Astronaut, who flew as a mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Discovery, as well as other missions. She took the time to answer their questions and really encouraged them to continue their passion for STEM.
We want to thank Repsol Energy for hosting the event and asking our students to participate. The kids especially liked hearing the high school students from CISD talk about their own research and science fair projects. We hope to see our 5th and 6th graders on stage again when they are in junior high or high school.
