My planning period 8:30 to 9:10.

Welcome to the Mitchell Orchestra! All students should have their instrument for home practice as well as the Sound Innovations for String Orchestra (book 1 for 5th grade and book 2 for 6th grade.)

The 6th Grade Honor Orchestra is rehearsing every Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 5 - parents pick up students by the gym doors. The 5th Grade Honor Orchestra rehearses every Wednesday morning from 7:45 to 8:30.

In the Fall of 2012, we will be offering beginning orchestra class to both 5th and 6th grade students. All students are required to have an instrument at home for practice - local music stores rent and sell all sizes of violins, violas, cellos, and basses. Students will be using Sound Innovations for Orchestra as our text.

Student who are currently in 5th grade orchestra will be considered 2nd year players in the fall, and they will be working on more difficult playing techniques - they will work separately from the beginning students joining the orchestra.

The String Fling concert is Monday May 21 at 7 pm at The Woodlands High School (main campus on Cats Cradle) gym. Students will meet at 5 for tuning and rehearsal and the concert is from 7 to 8 pm. Both 5th and 6th grade will perform.

The Mitchell spring concert is May 22 at Mitchell in the Commons. The 5th graders tune at 6 pm and perform at 6:30 and the 6th graders tune at 7 and perform at 7:30. Both 5th and 6th grade Honor Orchestras will perform.

The Mitchell In-School concerts will be held May 24 - at 9:15 for 6th grade and 2:15 for 5th grade.

For all performances, the students need the Mitchell Musician shirt and full length jeans.
