Destination Imagination

Mitchell Destination Imagination (DI) is seeking parent volunteer/coaching mentors for our Destination Imagination program for the 2019-2020 season which runs September-May (if the team qualifies for the state tournament). We need parent coaches to keep this program going. We like to place as many children as possible, but cannot without the help of parent coaches.

Teams meet 1-2 days a week for an hour and a half at each practice. Scheduling is somewhat flexible and can be arranged for teams to meet off campus with parent approval. This is a time consuming activity. We will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the Mitchell Intermediate Commons so you and your child can learn more about DI. As a coaching /mentor volunteer you will be required to register as a CISD district volunteer, pass a background check, as well as register with Destination Imagination.

Student applications will be available in the Mitchell Intermediate front office from August 19-September 12. They are not available online. Students are required to pick up applications themselves. The deadline to submit this year’s application is 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12. Sorry we cannot accept late or incomplete applications. Applications should be turned in to the Mitchell front office, then will be initialed by front office staff and time stamped. Special note: The number of students placed on teams will be determined by the number of coaches and mentors we are able to recruit this year.
