2021-2022 – Mitchell FLL Robotics is back!

We are excited to announce that applications are now being accepted for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Robotics Club at Mitchell Intermediate School for the 2021-2022 season. FLL is a non-profit organization devoted to helping young people ages 9-14, discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering and math. Participants will learn how to master skills and concepts to aid in learning science and technology through innovative projects, teamwork and robotics competitions while gaining valuable career and life skills. For more general information about FLL please visit their website at www.firstlegoleague.org.

It is very important for parents to remember that while participating in Robotics is fun and students learn a lot, it is an extracurricular activity that requires a certain level of commitment. Students and parents have to be willing to commit 2-6 hours a week from August until March, with several Saturdays for district and state competition. If your child is NOT INITIATING the desire to participate, robotics may not be the best fit and one of our other awesome opportunities at Mitchell may fit their personality and schedule better.

Our teams are coached by parents and high school mentors. We are always looking for volunteers. If you or a family member is interested in helping our Mitchell teams, please email Katie McLean at kmclean@conroeisd.net for more information. We cannot do it without the help of our fabulous volunteers.

Once the deadline closes on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 4:00PM teams will be formed and you can expect to hear via email about team placement. All teams will be notified by September 10, 2021 and practices will begin the following week. The challenge for next seaon will be revealed August 1 by FLL.

If you have any questions please email Mrs. McLean at: kmclean@conroeisd.net
