2023-2024 Mitchell Robotics Information
Do you have a passion for engineering, problem solving, research, making new friends and having fun? FLL Robotics might be for you. We don’t just build with Legos. We learn to code, research and solve real world problems and then present and share our ideas with judges and other teams.
Applications are being accepted for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) at Mitchell Intermediate School for the 2023-2024 season. FLL is a non-profit organization devoted to helping young people ages 9-14 discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering and math. Participants will learn how to master skills and concepts to aid in learning science and technology through innovative research projects, teamwork and robotics competition while gaining valuable career and life skills. It is very important for parents to remember that while participating in Robotics is fun and students learn a lot, it is an extracurricular activity that requires a high level of commitment. Students and parents have to be willing to commit 2-4 hours a week from August until April, with several Saturdays for district, and possibly regional and state competition.
If your child is NOT INITIATING the desire to participate, robotics may not be the best fit and one of our other awesome opportunities at Mitchell may fit their personality and schedule better.

* Students must be able to follow directions and school rules
* Students must be able to attend all team meetings
Our teams are coached by parent volunteers and high school mentors. We are always looking for volunteers. If your parents or a family member is interested in helping our Mitchell teams, please contact Mrs. McLean. We cannot do it without the help of our fabulous volunteers.
Once the deadline closes on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 4:00PM, teams will be formed and you can expect to hear via email about team placement. All teams will be notified by September 8, 2023, and practices will begin the following week. The challenge for next season will be revealed August 1 by FLL.
