• Children involved in morning activities such as choir, band, or orchestra rehearsals may arrive at 7:35 AM. Others, may arrive anytime after 8:00 AM, and will be in the gym and released at 8:25 AM to go to their LC.
• If your child is a car rider in the morning, pull up toward the gym until the line stops.
• Start having your child get out on the sidewalk at the first brick column once the line stops.
• At 8:25 AM, there are three doors open children may use to enter the building-the first door is at the 9th brick column, the next entrance is where you see the large windows leading into the Commons, and the last entrance is the gym.
• As soon as your child gets out of your vehicle, exit left in the exit lane and head toward Alden Bridge Drive.
• Please do not drop your child off at the first brick column and wait in the car line all the way to the gym.
• Even though the tardy bell does not ring until 8:45 AM, we still want the students in their class no later than 8:30 AM. There are many things the children need to take care of prior to first period beginning at 8:50 AM. There is no way a child can walk in at 8:45 AM and have time to be in their first class ready to learn by 8:50 AM.
• If your child is a biker or walker and arrives before 8:15 AM, he/she will walk down the sidewalk to the gym entrance.
• Bikers, walkers, or bus riders arriving after 8:15 AM will enter through the front entrance and head to the Commons. These students will be released to their LC at 8:25 AM.

• In the event of severe weather, make sure your child knows how he/she is getting home. We do not release bikers/walkers when there is thunder/lightening. From experience, we know there are typically storms and/or heavy rain in August. We implore you to establish the Severe Weather Dismissal for you family and make sure your child is aware of the family plan.
• Have you child begin memorizing emergency contact phone numbers now. If a child misses his/her bus, it is much easier if a child can call a parent/guardian without needing someone in the front office to access the emergency numbers.
• Parents are not permitted to walk to the gym exit or front entrance to meet their child. Car riders will be picked up in the car rider line. Bikers/walkers can meet a parent at the bike path intersection on Alden Bridge Drive across from the front entrance of Mitchell or on the path parallel to Kuykendahl.
• If you are conducting school business at the end of the day, you may park in the large parking lot off of Alden Bridge Drive and enter the building after dismissal has ended. Once routines are established, the car rider line ends usually no later than 4:15 PM.

There is a Drop Off table in our front vestibule area. We request that deliveries are only made if your child is expecting an item such as lunch. All items that have not been picked up will be delivered at the end of the day. Please note that we are not responsible for items that are left and please do not ask us to call your child immediately to pick up the item. The drop off table is a courtesy.

If your child needs to come into the school early one morning, please click on Morning Pass below. Complete the form, print it and bring it to the Gym monitor no earlier than 7:45 a.m. If you forget to print off a pass, you may write a note and sign it.

Students are not permitted to enter through the front doors before 8:15 a.m. All early arrivals MUST go through the car line and students will enter through the gym. Our morning staff members will allow children to go to their designated places.

If a student loses their SMART tag bus ID card, they need to go to the front office with $5 exact cash, or a check made out to Mitchell Intermediate with the student’s name and bus ID card in the memo section. (Example: Memo: John Doe-Bus ID card)

Cards will not be printed until payment is received.

If you will be picking up your child early, please have your child bring a note to the front office. We will give them a “golden ticket” that they can show their teacher a few minutes before pick up. If you have a last minute/emergency transportation change that your child is unaware of, you must notify the front office no later than 3:00 p.m. Please note that weather is not considered an emergency.

We request that 3:15 p.m. is the latest time for early dismissal.
