Fine Arts - Choir & Art

5th Graders can choose from the following:

Choir All Year

Choir/Art - semester rotation

Choir All Year:

 If students choose Choir all year, they would be in choir class every day during FA with Mrs. Adcock and Mrs. Stobbe. There are two required performances outside of school hours. Students who take choir all year would be eligible to attend every choir opportunity (National Anthem at Texas A&M (TBD), Contest, and Spring Trip)

*Art club is an option for these students one day a week*

Choir/Art:

If students choose the Choir/Art semester rotation, they would spend a semester (½ school year) in Choir and the other semester in Art. Students will be required to perform in 1 concert, the semester they are in Choir (Fall or Spring). Students who choose this option are NOT eligible for opportunities like Texas A&M, Contest or Spring Trip.These students would have the prospective art show opportunities the semester they are in art.

6th Graders can choose from the following:

CHORALE:

This is an auditioned group of singers that include 5th and 6th grade singers and instrumentalists. The auditions have concluded for this year. Current 5th graders will have the chance to audition in May for the subsequent year.

Art All Year:

If students choose Art all year, they will spend all year in Art class. (semester with each art teacher).These students would have prospective art show opportunities all year.

Band is a performanced-based class where students learn how to play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument. Fifth graders can choose from Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, and Percussion. Fifth grade students will perform two concerts.

The Mitchell 5th Grade Orchestra students select from violin, viola, cello, or bass, and perform several concerts throughout the year. Students need to have an instrument at home for practice – violins and violas are brought back and forth, and cello and bass players may use school instruments during the day and leave theirs at home except for tuning and concerts.

The Mitchell 6th Grade Orchestra is made up of 2 groups – Chamber and Concert – and they also perform several concerts during the school year. Both of these orchestras participate in Solo/Ensemble Contest and an orchestra competition.
