Important Mitchell 2023-2024 Information and Checklist
Dear Mitchell Parents,
I hope you are as excited as I am to begin the 2023-2024 school year. We are busy planning for the beginning of the school year that will have a few events to become more acclimated to Mitchell Intermediate.
You should have already received an email from Conroe ISD-PowerSchool requesting you update your child’s information and emergency contacts. We are being inundated with new enrollees. The only way I can justify/verify accurate enrollment numbers is by parents completing their child’s “Enrollment” forms confirming enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year. Please help us verify our enrollment in the event more staff will be needed.
New Student/Parent Orientation If you have recently moved to the Mitchell Intermediate area, you and your 5th or 6th grader are invited to the New Student/Parent Orientation on Thursday, August 3 at 5:00 PM. Please park in the large parking lot off of Alden Bridge Drive. You will enter through the Attendance Door, labeled Entrance #2, located to the right of the large window area.
5th Grade Meet the Teachers will be held on Monday, August 7 for all 5th graders. You and your new 5th grade Mustang will be able to meet the teachers during the time scheduled below based on the first letter of your child’s last name. Please park in the large parking lot off of Alden Bridge Drive. You will enter through the Attendance Door, labeled Entrance #2, located to the right of the large window area.
5:00-5:45 PM (A-G)
6:00-6:45 PM (H-O)
7:00-7:45 PM (P-Z)
6th Grade Meet the Teachers will be held on Tuesday, August 8 from 2:00-4:00 PM for new Mitchell Mustangs who did not attend Mitchell Intermediate for 5th grade. You and your Mustang will be able to meet the teachers. Please park in the large parking lot off of Alden Bridge Drive. You will enter through the Attendance Door, labeled Entrance #2, located to the right of the large window area.
None of these events are mandatory. If you are unable to attend, no worries. If you are unable to attend “Meet the Teachers”, your child will be able to pick up his/her LC placement before school starts on the morning of Wednesday, August 9.
District-Wide New Student Registration Conroe ISD will be holding its District-Wide New Student Registration Day on Saturday, July 29, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. This opportunity is for students new to the District. The school holding on-site registration closest to Mitchell Intermediate is College Park High School located at 3701 College Park Drive. Math Pre-Assessment Parents of new students who did not attend a CISD school in 4th grade or Mitchell Intermediate for 5th grade and are interested in having their child take a math placement test to determine which math class is most appropriate for their child, should complete this form. Students who were in a previous CISD elementary/intermediate school or attended Mitchell last year have been evaluated. This pre-assessment will give the math teacher more data to determine if Advanced Math is an option for the child. The pre-assessment will be administered on Friday, August 4 from 8:30-12:00 PM at Mitchell Intermediate. Please drop off your child in the large parking lot off of Alden Bridge Drive. Your child will enter through the Attendance Door, labeled Entrance #2, located to the right of the large window area. Math Pre-Assessment Registration Link
SmartTags were given to students in the middle of the school year last year. Principals did not receive clear directives on what to do to transition to the next school year. Therefore, we did not communicate what students should have done with their tags. However, we are now finding out tags will not be reprinted for children entering 6th grade. The district is printing tags for students entering a different school (entering 5th grader, entering 7th grade, entering 9th grade, etc.). It is very costly to print the bus tags. It would save us a lot of money if your child could use the tag they were issued last year. If you did not keep your tag, your child can still ride the bus and enter his/her ID# manually. We will develop a system to determine which students need a bus tag. Rather than printing a tag for every child, we will only print tags for those children regularly riding the bus.
School Supply Packs Extra school supply packs, which include the ThinkUp! Math book, are available. The online payment link has closed, but you may pay for the packet at the Mitchell front office. The pack is $80.00.
