ExploraVision Winners
Congratulations to our STEM-azing
Mustangs! Eight Mitchell students have been announced as winners of the 34th annual Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision competition rising to the top of over 3,000 team entries.  ExploraVision is the world’s
largest K-12 STEM competition. The
ExploraVision competition empowers
students to apply research knowledge and engineering design skills to tackle real world problems.  These winning students envision
creative solutions to issues that they are passionate about solving.

On March 12, Natalie Zhao and Emily
Zhang’s NeuroNavigator innovation was announced as Regional Winner for the competition.  The NeuroNavigator is an accessible, AI-assisted, helmet-style scanner designed to detect brain tumors in
early stages, it can save lives, reduce
treatment costs, and make brain scans as common as checking blood pressure. Our Regional Winners each received a laptop computer from Toshiba International and are
now taking their innovation for early brain tumor diagnoses to the next level as one of just 24 teams moving on to the National competition.  Natalie and Emily are now
developing a  3D prototype of
NeuroNavigator, a website highlighting the features and benefits of their technology and a 2 minute video showcasing how their
innovation uniquely tackles brain tumors to provide better outcomes for patients.  The first place prize for a National Winning team is a trip to Washington, DC to present the
technology and a $10,000 scholarship for each team member.
Additionally, three teams received Honorable Mention in the competition placing them in
the top 10% of all ExploraVision entries.

Wesley Meier and Colby Kovac’s WildGuard- Honorable Mention for a tracker and mobile alert systems eliminating driver collisions with wildlife.

Aimal Rehan and Izabel Zina’s Hydronyx -Honorable Mention for bioengineered microbes cleaning polluted water.

William Barack and Nikhilan Vijay’s MediPal- Honorable Mention for a friendly healthcare robot designed to detect and improve childhood malnutrition.

We celebrate all our ExploraVision winners and are cheering for team NeuroNavigator as they progress to this next level of competition!
